About this tool

How CSS minification works

A minified stylesheet removes comments, line breaks and spaces that browsers ignore, and drops the last semicolon in each rule. The CSS works exactly the same, just with fewer bytes to download and parse.

This minifier is deliberately careful. It never changes the inside of strings, keeps the spaces media queries and calc() expressions need, and preserves important comments that start with /*! such as licence notices. The beautifier does the reverse, putting each declaration on its own line with consistent indentation.
