About this tool
When should you convert JPG to PNG?
JPG is great for photos because it keeps file sizes small, but every time a JPG is edited and saved it loses a little quality. PNG is lossless, so converting to PNG is useful when you want to edit an image further, add text or graphics, or upload it somewhere that requires PNG.
Converting a JPG to PNG will not bring back detail that JPG compression already removed, and PNG files are usually larger. It also does not make the background transparent on its own. For that, you would need to remove the background in an editor after converting.
